Box Out Of It works with disadvantaged, vulnerable children aged 11 to 16. They are typically referred to us from one of our referral partners, which could include schools, the Youth Offending Service, social services or community health partners.
It is a flexible programme designed to address their specific needs within a group setting. As such, goals can range from supporting the children to make more positive choices, addressing vulnerability to criminality, helping them build social networks, or even to engage more positively with school.
"Even if I have had a really bad day/week, I know that when I get to Box Out Of It, I will soon be smiling with Stef and Cello with their big energy!"

READ: Alternative Education Provision"The girls have been very positive about the sessions and have enjoyed attending and trying something new. The sessions seem to have supported the students well and they are now more open with lines of communication with staff and other students."

Our Chatterbox support delivers real change for participants
We have robust data collection and evaluation procedures. This includes entry- and exit-point surveys and assessments. We measure progress towards agreed targets as set out at referral stages. Last year:
Box Out Of It offers non-contact boxing and therapeutic talk to vulnerable, disadvantaged children aged 11 to 16. All names have been changed.*
Box Out Of It is a 12-week programme of non-contact boxing and therapeutic talk. Group sizes are capped at eight children. The two-hour weekly sessions help the children build their physical and mental health, confidence and resilience. It creates a pathway through which they can develop their social and emotional wellbeing so they can realise their full potential.
Crucially, the specifics of the programme are tailored on receipt of referrals and conversations with our referring partners.
By the time Sara* was 14 years old, she was in a drugs and alcohol programme. She was often a truant from school and had mental health issues.
Then she was referred to Boxing Futures. Over the months, she realised she could create a different future for herself.
